Board of Directors 2026-2027 Nominations
The Southwestern Illinois Board of REALTORS® is now accepting applications for open leadership positions on the 2026–2027 Board of Directors.
There are six positions available: four Director seats serving three-year terms (2025–2028), one Vice President seat, and one Affiliate Director seat. This is an exciting opportunity to step into a leadership role and help shape the future of our association.

The following leadership positions will conclude their current terms on October 31, 2026, and are subject to the 2026 nomination and election process.

Continuing Officers & Directors
The Candidate will Commit to:
- Promoting the REALTOR® Association’s mission.
- Empowering the success of REALTORS® and Affiliates
- Advocating for private property rights in Southwestern Illinois.
- Being open to new ideas and concepts.
- Having the leadership ability to influence the establishment of goals and objectives of the Association, and being persistent in carrying forth ideas and directions.
- Possessing knowledge and understanding of the Association’s programs and initiatives and being able to counsel the committees and members regarding SIBR’s programs, policies, priorities, objectives, goals, and organizational structure.
- Attending required monthly Board of Directors meetings and Association events.
- Understanding your fiduciary duty as a representative of SIBR over your own personal or the company’s interests.
- Representing the association at state and national association events.
The Duties of a SIBR Director & Affiliate Director are as Follows:
- Help develop and implement the strategic plan and NAR core standards.
- Be the Board’s advocate on all decisions to the membership.
- Help develop and approve the budget.
- Be familiar with SIBR bylaws and policies, NAR bylaws and policies, and IR bylaws and policies.
- Place the needs of the Board above the direct interests of individual businesses.
- Attend SIBR Board of Director Meetings, Annual Meetings, and all events possible.
- Prior to each Board of Directors meeting, thoroughly review all meeting materials, including agendas, financial documents, and any other relevant information provided in advance. If anything is unclear, reach out to the CEO for clarification before the meeting.
- Follow all fiduciary duties.
- Attend the Annual Board of Director training.
The Duties of a Vice President:
- The Vice President will automatically take the office of President-Elect immediately following their term serving as Vice President.
- Help develop and implement the Strategic Plan.
- Be the Board's advocate on all decisions for the membership
- Be familiar with SIBR Bylaws and Policies, NAR Bylaws and Policies, and IR Bylaws and Policies.
- Place the needs of the Association above the direct interests of individual businesses.
- Attend SIBR Board Meetings, Annual Meetings, and all events possible.
- Serve on the Executive Committee.
- Attend New Member Orientation.
- Prior to each Board of Directors meeting, thoroughly review all meeting materials, including agendas, financial documents, and any other relevant information provided in advance. If anything is unclear, reach out to the CEO for clarification before the meeting.
- Follow all Fiduciary Duties.
- Check signatory.
*The Vice President position is elected exclusively by the Board of Directors and does not appear on the general membership ballot. To be eligible, candidates must be REALTOR® members in good standing, currently serving on the Board of Directors, have completed at least one full year as an elected Director, and be willing to fulfill the leadership succession responsibilities through the offices of President-Elect and President.
All applicants should know that the Board of Directors meetings are on the 3rd Thursday of every month. We ask that all candidates confirm that they can regularly attend these meetings.

| July 23 – July 25, 2026 | Staff reviews applications, verifies eligibility, and schedules candidate interviews. |
| July 31, 2026 | Executive Committee conducts interviews with Vice President applicants. |
| August 13, 2026 | Nominating Committee conducts interviews with Director applicants. |
| August 20, 2026 | Board of Directors elects the Vice President for the 2027 elective year. |
| August 21 – August 28, 2026 | Director candidates are notified of the Nominating Committee's decisions. Candidates selected for the slate submit materials for distribution to the membership. |
| September 9, 2026 | Nominating Committee Report and slate of candidates distributed to all eligible voting members. |
| September 16, 2026 | Final day to submit SIBR Director petition nominations. Petitions must be signed by at least 100 REALTOR® members eligible to vote and filed with the CEO. |
| September 23, 2026 | CEO distributes notice of any qualified petition candidates to the membership. |
| September 30 – October 14, 2026 | SIBR Election – Online Voting for Candidates. Voting opens at 9:00 a.m. on September 30 and closes at 12:00 p.m. on October 14. |
| October 15, 2026 | Election Certification Committee certifies election results. |
| October 16, 2026 | Candidates are notified of election results. |
| October 28, 2026 | Election results officially announced at the SIBR Annual Meeting and introduction of the 2027 Leadership Team. |
| October 31, 2026 | Officer succession occurs. The President-Elect succeeds to President and the Vice President succeeds to President-Elect. |
| November 1, 2026 | Newly elected Directors begin their terms and 2027 Officers assume their responsibilities. |
