REALTORS® are deeply connected to the communities they serve. You volunteer, serve on local boards, participate in civic organizations, build relationships with community leaders, and often hear about local issues before they reach the broader community.
SIBR's Local Political Coordinator (LPC) Program brings those connections together to strengthen REALTOR® advocacy throughout our region. The program is open year-round, and SIBR REALTOR® members can express interest in joining at any time.
What Is a Local Political Coordinator?
Local Political Coordinators are SIBR REALTOR® members who serve as an additional connection between SIBR and the communities we represent.
LPCs help SIBR stay informed about local conversations, emerging issues, and opportunities that could affect real estate, private property rights, housing, homeownership, and the communities where our members live and work.
The goal isn't to make you a political expert. It's about using the relationships, community involvement, and local knowledge you already have to help strengthen the REALTOR® voice.
What Do LPCs Do?
As a Local Political Coordinator, you may:
- Share updates about issues or conversations happening in your community.
- Help identify local ordinances or proposals that could impact housing, real estate, or private property rights.
- Attend local government or community meetings when appropriate.
- Help SIBR build and strengthen relationships with local elected officials and community leaders.
- Share opportunities where SIBR or REALTORS® could become more involved.
- Participate in quarterly virtual LPC meetings to exchange information with SIBR staff and other LPCs.
- Receive advocacy updates, resources, and talking points from SIBR.
Who Should Get Involved?
You may already be doing the work of an LPC without realizing it.
We're especially interested in connecting with REALTORS® who are currently involved in their communities through areas such as:
- Municipal, county, or township government
- Business and economic development
- Public safety and emergency services
- Education and youth organizations
- Nonprofit and civic organizations
- Healthcare and human services
- Infrastructure and community development
- Faith-based and cultural organizations
- Chambers of commerce and local business groups
- Neighborhood and community organizations
You don't need to hold an elected position or have previous political experience. If you're engaged in your community, have relationships with local leaders, or simply want to become more involved, we'd like to hear from you.
Why It Matters
SIBR serves a large and diverse geographic area, and decisions affecting real estate and property rights are often made at the local level.
Our Government Affairs team can't be in every community or at every meeting. By partnering with REALTORS® who are already connected locally, SIBR can better identify emerging issues, strengthen relationships, and make sure the REALTOR® perspective is part of important community conversations.
Local knowledge helps create stronger advocacy.
Interested in Becoming an LPC?
You can join the LPC Program at any time throughout the year. There is no need to wait for a new program year or application period.
Tell us a little about yourself, the communities you're connected to, and where you'd like to get involved. SIBR will follow up with additional information and next steps.
