Collinsville, IL — On Tuesday, April 29, over 70 members of the Southwestern Illinois Board of REALTORS® (SIBR) united with680 fellow real estate professionals from across the state to attend the annual Illinois REALTORS® Capitol Conference & Lobby Day in Springfield, Illinois.

SIBR members boarded a chartered bus and drove up to Springfield early that morning to join forces at the Capitol to show strong support for REALTOR® priorities. The event provided a valuable opportunity for members to meet face-to-face with lawmakers, discuss key issues affecting the real estate industry, and advocate for property rights and sound housing policies.

Throughout the day, members attended informational sessions, met with local legislators, and demonstrated the strength and unity of REALTORS® across Illinois. The event was hosted by Illinois REALTORS® and continues to be a cornerstone of grassroots advocacy within the organization.

“Our local REALTORS® and affiliate members are the cornerstone of a $177 billion industry in Illinois. Advocacy is a core pillar of Illinois REALTORS® and helping to forge quality policy is critical at city & village halls, county buildings and our state capitol,” said Ron Deedrick, Local Government Affairs Director Illinois REALTORS®. “We appreciate the time that the members took from their practices and firms to travel to our state capitol.”

“We thank all SIBR members who took time out of their busy schedules to participate in this day of advocacy,” said Erica Kirk, Chief Executive Officer of the Southwestern Illinois Board of REALTORS® (SIBR). “Having a seat at the table is essential to advocate for private property rights. Legislators value hearing directly from their REALTOR® constituents, and a visit to Springfield is an effective way to build relationships and serve as a trusted resource when important legislation is being considered. REALTORS® are strong advocates for pro-housing policies and remain committed to ongoing involvement in advocacy efforts—and each year, interest in this event continues to grow.”
